Hardware requirements
Bienvenue dans la documentation Redcherry. Cette section couvre l’installation du serveur, la configuration des caméras IP, la détection de mouvement, le stockage, les notifications, l’API et le dépannage. Utilisez le sommaire à gauche pour naviguer.
Hard disk
- A full Redcherry installation uses around 1.5 GB of disk usage (this does not include the operating system). By default Redcherry uses the main drive that contains /var/lib, which is typically the root drive. You can add as many storage mounts as you need after installation.
- In production environments, it is always recommended using reliable disks and data protection systems such as mirror devices.
- SSD or NVME disks types are recommended to improve performance.
CPU and memory
- CPU and memory usage will depend on multiple factors, such as motion detection, constant recording, trigger types (ONVIF motion triggering), etc.
- Assuming 1080p video streaming, Redcherry consumes about 512 MB of memory for constant recording devices and 1GB and 2GB for motion detected devices. This of course is highly dependent on on the resolution of the incoming stream.
- We recommend having at least 8 GB of RAM, but more is always better.
- Redcherry makes good use of multi-core CPUs, so multi-core processors are highly recommended.
Calculating storage
We do not transcode video as this saves CPU / GPU usage. We recommend using online storage calculators such as Western Digital or Seagate website.
